SUV jumps curb, fatally strikes woman
Victoria Nicodemus, a 31-year-old art curtator, was mowed down by a SUV driven by Marlon Sewell, 39, who was unlicensed.
DNAinfo reports Ms. Nicodemus was holiday shopping with her boyfriend when the vehicle struck them along with another pedestrian.
According to DNAinfo, a Chevrolet truck jumped the curb and hit 30-year-old Victoria Nicodemus in Fort Greene, Brooklyn about 5:26 pm on Sunday. Shockingly, a surveillance video taken from the scene shows an unidentified woman briefly glancing back a couple of times after the accident before walking away, eating a slice of pizza, while others rushed to help.
‘I don’t know how you could keep eating your pizza and keep walking, ‘ Lerima Guadelupe, 32, who works at a nearby bakery, told the website.
“She was an incredible young woman”, Miller said about his sister.
Witness Leslie Meeman told the New York Daily News she thought both the driver and the victim’s family were now shattered. “Honestly one of the most handsome souls”.
Nicodemus was taken to hospital after the accident but doctors were unable to save her life.
A 37-year-old woman was also struck and is in critical condition.
The man behind the wheel of the SUV, Marion Sewell, was arrested and faces charges of driving without a license and driving without insurance, police said.
Police said that the woman had been under no legal obligation to help.
