Suzi Perry hints at Top Gear job
Speaking to 53-year-old Phillip Schofield and 44-year-old Amanda Holden on This Morning, the MotoGP host shared her insight on the future of the series.
The presenter and ex- model would initially not be drawn on the rumours when asked directly by Philip Schofield on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Wednesday (July 1st), rebuffing the suggestion that the position was hers by saying: “It’s nobodies, it’s Chris’s. It’s down to Chris and the BBC”.
‘You know what it’s like when you work for a channel, you have conversations, ’ she admitted – but did add her own schedule was already pretty busy. “We didn’t even get to talk about the honeymoon as I wanted to know about the wedding as I could not make it, but they are great”. Yeah, I’d consider it. X Factor’s over.
“Until, as a broadcaster, you know what’s going to happen with the show, you can’t really think very seriously about it”.
Then put on the spot as to whether she was “in the mix” for a spot alongside Evans, she replied “I believe so”.
But I’m away twenty weeks a year doing Formula 1, so unless someone has invented 48 hours in a day – which may be [looking at Phillip] you have actually.
Perry is among several presenters tipped to join Chris Evans in the new Top Gear lineup, alongside the likes of Jodie Kidd, Guy Martin and Dermot O’Leary.
Suzi also revealed that years ago she did turn down a Top Gear presenting job.
“That’s what’s dynamite on television, and that’s what needs to be assembled, that’s what Chris [Evans] has to do, he has to assemble a good team that works very well together and keep the good bits and freshen it up with some new bits”.
‘But I was very much in MotoGP at the time and I didn’t think I could do it.
Mel said: “I’d love to do The Voice because, one – I love Ricky [Wilson], and two – Tom [Jones] is a wonderful artist. There is a huge amount of female presenting talent in the motoring industry and it would be silly for them not to be represented”, he said.
