Swansea: Striker signs for Swans
Llorente spent just one season with Sevilla, following a lengthy stint with Athletic Bilbao and two years at Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles.
Although fluent in Italian to ease communication with Francesco Guidolin and able to hold adequate conversation in English, Llorente has cited the presence of compatriots Angel Rangel and Jordi Amat as key in helping him settle, while added that the addition of Borja Baston would be a good signing for the club and himself.
Fernando Llorente has set his sights on winning silverware at Swansea and forcing his way back into the Spain squad.
“I would like to return to play for Spain, it would be a very special thing for me”.
Swansea City manager Francesco Guidolin has revealed that a deal to bring Borja Baston to the Liberty Stadium for a club-record fee is “imminent”.
The 23-year-old has also enjoyed prolific loan spells with Murcia, Huesca, Deportivo La Coruna and Real Zaragoza, scoring 22 goals for the latter in the second tier.
Former Juventus and Athletic Bilbao frontman Llorente is Swansea’s fourth signing of the off-season, after Leroy Fer joined permanently and Mike van der Hoorn and Mark Birighitti made the move.
‘I know that I will need to play well for Swansea all season if I want to do that. “He is very experienced and has done really well at the clubs he has managed”.
“I think it is close”.
“I’m looking forward to playing for him”.
The Premier League side were desperate to sign a new striker following the departures of Alberto Paloschi and Bafetimbi Gomis and have now found their man in Llorente.
Swansea, who finished 12th last season, are expected to sell Ghana worldwide forward Andre Ayew to West Ham.
