Swift Playgrounds brings iOS app development to the masses
By providing an app that includes lessons and the ability to do projects, people can approach Swift at an early age and ultimately take steps toward becoming an experienced programmer.
The primary way it teaches users to code is by providing fun onscreen characters and various challenges and puzzles that subtly push the user forward toward learning to build apps that can later be shared with friends. Swift Playgrounds brings coding to life with an interactive interface that encourages students and beginners to explore working with Swift, the easy-to-learn programming language from Apple used by professional developers to create world-class apps. The final version of Swift Playgrounds will be available in the App Store® for free this fall.
The Playgrounds app teaches basic programming concepts like loops and conditionals.
In addition to teaching kids the basics of Swift, the app also teaches some more advanced lessons, like controlling physics.
Aside from all the software updates coming to your Watch, Phone, Tablet, Computer and Apple TV box – there’s something else which for Apple as a company was just as important today at WWDC – Learning Coding. Swift Playgrounds is compatible with all iPad Air® and iPad Pro™ models and iPad mini™ 2 and later running iOS 10. It will be available in the iOS App Store.
