Switching between apps on the new Apple TV

Further updates will tell if Apple will continue to sacrifice functionality to avoid necessary redundancy, but for now, the new Apple TV is better left at store shelves.

It looks like the new Apple TV Siri is a blast from the past, like Apple took a Siri prototype from 2007 and stuck it onto what Tim Cook called a “revolutionary” device. That’s hardly a surprise, since gaming is a new feature in the latest Apple TV.

With apps as the biggest highlights from Apple, their product should receive plenty of available software from developers. We’ve reached out to Apple for more info.

Plex streaming playback will cost $4.99, but the app is free to download in Apple apps store. The new Apple TV remote features a speaker and microphone, so you can direct your queries to Siri. Now you can be sure that App Lock works with your device running Android Marshmallow. The sensors allow users to turn the remote into a controller for playing games. And it’s no longer pushy about steering you to iTunes and other Apple services.

Unfortunately, the Apple TV does not support 4K UHD resolution, according to the Wall Street Journal. You can press this to do several actions depending where you are and how you press it. You can scroll horizontally through them by swiping left or right on the remote. What Apple TV offers instead is support for Bluetooth wireless headphones – sold separately, of course, by Apple and others.

The Apple TV can control more than you would expect. Following the release of iOS 9, the company now seems to be going all out to launch its indoor positioning technology by coming out with a new app, which can be used by businesses to map their locations.

Press Play/Pause on the Keyboard – Use this to switch between uppercase and lower case. Note that you can move the video around or re-size the video to eat up more or less of the screen real estate. But when you log into an app for the first time, having to enter in your username and password is a tedious experience.
