T20 2018: Mumbai beat Kolkata by 102 runs
Rohit Sharma’s men came to bat first and set a target of 211 runs in front of Dinesh Karthik’s KKR. He finished with 36 off 31 balls.
The Aussie pack: Facing an improbable run chase and armed with a license to go for broke, it was another frustrating innings for Chris Lynn in a scenario that appeared tailor-made for the six-hitting superstar. KKR bled profusely in the last seven overs, conceding 98 runs. This is Mumbai’s eighth consecutive win over KKR and also with this win, Mumbai move up to the fourth place in the Points Table. Intending to sweep over deep square leg, he skied the ball down the throat of Robin Uthappa.
McClenaghan took his 12th wicket of the campaign with the second ball of the second innings, removing Sunil Narine for four. “It’s unfair to label that blame on us, even though, as a team, KKR has lost so many matches, which I accept”.
Mumbai moved fourth with the win, jumping ahead of Kolkata on run rate. He was looking good to score yet another half-century but his innings was cut short at 36 runs by Chawla in the ninth over of the innings. Mumbai Indians scored an intimidating 210 for 6 but 19-year-old Jharkhand batsman Ishan Kishan blitzkrieg stole the show today. Mumbai then cranked up the pressure by a notch when Ishan Kishan took to the crease.
“I had a chat with my skipper Rohit Sharma, he said just back yourself, you know what to do and how you can hit”.
However, this was followed by a cameo by Ben Cutting, but departed for 24. From 72/2 after 10 overs, MI jumped to 144 in the 15th over.
Bumrah was excellent once again as he conceded just 17 runs in his three overs at an economy of less than six runs an over and also claimed the wicket of Rinku Singh.
Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya scalped two wickets each.
WICKET! Ishan Kishan departs after scoring a 21-ball 62 as Sunil Narine gets his first victim of the night. Kuldeep (Yadav) isn’t someone who goes for a lot of runs normally so it takes some doing to hit him for 43 odd runs in three overs.
Mumbai Indians got a good start as Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis put together 46 runs. Lewis, though, got a lifeline in the fifth over as he was droped by Kuldeep Yadav off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling.
