Tag Heuer Android Wear unveil on November. 9, will cost a lot

The watch will be known as the Carrera 01 and it will cost $1,800.

Back in March, Tag Heuer had announced that it was teaming up with Intel to take on Apple Watch by launching its new smartwatch running on Google’s Android operating system. Speaking to CNBC, Jean-Claude Biver, the CEO of TAG, said the company’s Android Wear smartwatch, Carrera 01 will carry a hefty price tag of $1800. “I’m very, very pleased”. The aim is to bring together the companies’ expertise in luxury software, hardware, and watchmaking. This will make TAG Heuer’s smartwatch the most expensive Wear watch, followed by the Huawei Watch, which sells for $800. He believes that because of this device, the timepiece industry will receive a boost in sales because of young consumers.

Looks like the Apple Watch Hermes will soon have a few competition in the luxury smartwatch market.

Available this October, the Apple Watch Hermès is priced at $1,250 for the Double Tour with extra-long band, $1,100 for the Single Tour, and $1,500 for the Cuff.

Chinese consumers often feel more comfortable shopping for luxury goods through a platform they are familiar with, which may help Tag Heuer convince them to buy online.

Out of all the smartwatches set to debut this year, the TAG Heuer smartwatch has largely remained a mystery.
