Tag Heuer Connected Android Wear watch teased, coming 9 November
Apple has kind of nailed the premium angle with its smartwatch, but a new Android Wear watch could seriously change all that as one of the biggest names in timepieces prepares to join the fray. The company posted the image you see above on its Twitter account along with the line, “Get ready to experience the next step in innovation”.
Tag, Intel, and Google have all been talking about the watch since the beginning of the year, but the tweet gives us our first glimpse at the watch’s design. Tradition meets innovation, craftsmanship meets savoir-faire, and bold style meets breakthrough technology. We’ll find out on November 9.
The revealed image shows that the Tag Heuer smartwatch has a crown, but no buttons like the Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer 01. At an expected $1800 United States dollars for the watch this is more of a luxury fashion piece than a consumer electronics device, and that’s ok.
The most expensive Android Wear watch to date is the Huawei Watch, which tops out at $799 (€699, about £515). As it has been officially stated, the smartwatch developed by Tag Heuer and Intel will be somewhat based on the Carrera series of Tag Heuer watches that you can see below.
Rumours have suggested that the watch will have a 40-hour batter life, be powered by Qualcomm’s Quark processor, and will run on a newer, Marshmallow version of Android Wear. Little else is known about the Connected and what smartwatch-like features it will have. The site also includes a timeline for those who would like to know a little more about the history of the company and in 2015 the following can be read: “TAG Heuer is pushing the Swiss avant-garde limits even further with the TAG Heuer Connected”.
