The research was scheduled for presentation Thursday at the annual Alzheimer’s Association worldwide Conference, held from July 18 to 23 in Washington, D.C.

The drugs aim to block the formation of a protein called beta amyloid, which is believed to cause the toxic brain plaques that are considered a hallmark of Alzheimer’s.

“This study shows women have more amyloid in their brain than men, in general, and especially once the women are in the late stages where they’re having dementia”.
