Meanwhile, suspected Boko Haram insurgents early Tuesday killed at least nine people and kidnapped dozens, including children and teenagers, from a village in Cameroun on the border with Nigeria, according to local leader.

At least seven people were killed and about 20 others were kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram militants in an overnight raid on a village near Cameroon’s northern border, a senior military officer said on Tuesday.

“During this operation, 178 people held hostage by terrorists were saved, including 101 children, 67 women and 10 men”, he said in a statement.
