As it has grown, the sprawling industrial empire Berkshire Hathaway, with holdings in railroads, insurance, retail and manufacturing, has increasingly looked to strike enormous takeovers in order to lift profit and revenue.

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway on Monday agreed to buy Precision Castparts for about 37.2 billion U.S. dollars, which would be the conglomerate’s largest takeover ever.

Buffetts Berkshire Hathaway is buying Precision Castparts Corp. for approximately $32.36 billion, the company announced, Monday, August 10, 2015.

The company, which Berkshire Hathaway purchased for $37 billion in a transaction confirmed this morning, employs more than 2,900 people in the metro region.

Precision Castparts’ shares jumped as much as 19.3 per cent to US$231.25, while Berkshire Class B shares fell 1.4 per cent to US$141.60.

“This means we have to reload over the next 12 months or so… but we will be buying a few small things in the next six months”, he said.
