The New Zealander successfully defended her title in 2013, also as an amateur, in Edmonton, Alberta.

“I haven’t thought about too much yet”, she concluded.

She’s only the third player to win such a title before turning 18 and she is the first Canadian, regardless of age, to win an LPGA Tour event since Lorie Kane of Charlottetown won the Takefuji Classic in 2001 – when Henderson was a three-year-old.

Canadian teen Brooke Henderson won the LPGA Tour’s Cambia Portland Classic last Sunday, but that didn’t guarantee her the two-season exemption that comes with a victory.

Brooke Henderson believes the time she spent between the pipes growing up can give her a big assist this week as she tries to become the first Canadian in over 40 years to win Canada’s national women’s golf championship.
