Carphone Warehouse told the BBC that it was in the process of informing all the customers who may have been affected by the cyberattack and helping them to reduce further risk of their personal data being exposed as a result.
It is believed that names, addresses, dates of birth and bank details may have been accessed during what the retailer described as a “sophisticated cyberattack”. Encrypted credit card details of up to 90,000 clients may also have been accessed.
Dixons Carphone, the JV parent of Carphone Warehouse, confirmed that details including customers addresses, bank details, dates of birth are feared to have been stolen.
