With the part established as belonging to a Boeing 777, the same model as Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, investigators at the specialized center Direction Generale de l’Armement Techniques Aeronautiques will be focused on linking the wreckage to the doomed aircraft.

A wing flap suspected to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has arrived at a French military testing facility where it will be analyzed by experts.

Experts will determine whether the debris found on the French territory of Reunion Island last week is from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

It was found on the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion and returned to the French mainland.

The flaperon is officially identified as being part of #Boeing 777.

A “metal object of interest” related to the search was found Sunday morning on the beach in St. Denis, part of Reunion Island, a local government official said.

That is the second piece of airplane debris found in recent days on Réunion, a French territory in the Indian Ocean off the east coast of Madagascar.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said he was informed that only Malaysia, France and plane manufacturer Boeing would jointly inspect the debris stored at Toulouse at this point, adding that he was unaware if other agencies are also involved.

“I’m the one leading the investigation in France for the analysis of the (wing flap) piece brought back. It is not a door”.

Malaysia has also deployed additional personnel to look for more debris at Réunion while dispatching another set of experts to France to coordinate the investigation.

Bishop said she was hopeful it could provide insight into what happened to the Malaysia Airlines flight, which disappeared on March 8 last year en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

Wrapped and loaded as cargo, the fragment was being transported to the military aviation laboratory, east of Toulouse.
