It is believed that names, addresses, dates of birth and bank details may have been accessed during what the retailer described as a “sophisticated cyberattack”. Encrypted credit card details of up to 90,000 clients may also have been accessed.
Dixons Carphone, the JV parent of Carphone Warehouse, confirmed that details including customers addresses, bank details, dates of birth are feared to have been stolen.
Though investors initially reacted coolly to the plan to merge Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse they were quickly won over and the merged group’s share price has risen by almost half since the deal was completed nearly a year ago.
Among other movers, Dixons Carphone was up 1.2 percent after announcing a deal with Sprint Corp.to open and manage Sprint-branded stores in the United States.
