Manchester United are ready to try and hijack Chelsea’s move for John Stones by tempting Everton with a swap deal involving out-of-favour defender Jonny Evans, according to ESPN. “He is a young man with a very impressive future”.

The Mason Holgate saga is finally over as he joins Everton from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. Stones has not given any indication that he wants a move to Chelsea FC so if he has done so it was behind closed doors.

And after coming off the bench to score in the 2-2 draw against Everton, the 26-year old says he’s looking to keep scoring and keep helping his team.

“It isn’t a bad result, but normally if we play at our level it is a game we should win”.

Stones is now the focus of attention of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who is willing to fork out as much as £30m for him, and if Holgate can reach that level himself in the future, Roberto Martinez will have pulled off a fine bit of business with regards to the long-term plans...
