According to a report from Nikkei Asian Review, Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn has proposed to purchase Sharp’s LCD business.

FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn), announced Tuesday a US$200 million investment in Jasper Infotech, the owner and operator of India’s leading online retail platform Snapdeal.

Snapdeal released a statement mentioning that present investors like Singapore-based Temasek, PE fund BlackRock, Myriad and Premji Invest also participated in the latest round of funding.

Foxconn Technology Group has begun assembling Xiaomi Corp.’s first made-in-India smartphone from a new plant in the country’s south, helping the Chinese company shorten delivery times and prop up margins.

“Under the “Make in India, Made in AP” programme, chief minister N Chadrababu Naidu will launch the first Xiaomi-manufactured phone in India in Visakhapatnam tomorrow”.

Investors included Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, along with Foxconn, the Taiwanese iPhone manufacturer and existing Snapdeal investor SoftBank.

CNet has also reported that there is a possibility Apple will turn to a new Qualcomm LTE chip that will open up increased speeds of web-connectivity all the while saving on battery life.

Last week we heard that Apple’s new iPhone 6S would come with faster LTE than the current iPhone 6 models and would offer download speed of up to 300 Mbps.
