Some people have attempted to breach the border, even though Hungary’s right-wing government has promised to arrest and deport migrants who enter the country without permission.

Weren’t the Hungarians working to the book when they said genuine refugees were entitled to go into Europe, whilst economic migrants were not?

After entering Serbia, the migrants, fleeing wars and poverty, are heading towards EU-member Hungary from where they want to continue further north to richer EU countries, such as Germany and Sweden.

The vote’s result also seemed to dispel any speculation that Chancellor Angela Merkel would have difficulty getting her conservative bloc to sign on.

Forty-four members of the governing coalition voted against cuts put forward by Tspiras last week, all of whom sided with the left wing of his SYRIZA party.
