CNN reported that in Chelan, a town populated by about 4,000 people, four fires have been reported to happen, burning an estimate of 100 structures including cabins and homes, according to the Chelan County Emergency Management.

It’s located about 10 miles east of Curlew Lake.

Chelan Hospital began evacuating all patients around 2 p.m. due to heavy smoke, but decided to keep its emergency room open.

“This is a reward for many of these individuals,” California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman Daniel Berlant said to Mother Jones.

Locals were allowed in.

Fire officials said evacuated residents will be allowed back in their homes beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday and that crews expect to get a better handle on the fire in the overnight hours.

Most of the residents who were told to evacuate were allowed to return to their homes Monday.
