A memorial was created for Maddy Middleton, 8, of Santa Cruz, whose body was found in a dumpster on July 27, 2015.

Santa Cruz Police Department Madyson (Maddy) Middleton was found dead in a recylcing bin after vanishing Sunday. Police said the girl was likely killed before even being reported missing.

The murder charge includes special circumstances involving sexual assault, kidnapping and lying in wait, Rosell said.
