KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan military official says an airstrike by the global coalition has killed eight Afghan soldiers in a province east of the capital, Kabul.

A USA airstrike in Afghanistan has targeted an army checkpoint manned by Afghan soldiers in the country’s central Logar Province, killing at least ten service members.

Mohammed Rahim Amin, governor of Logar province’s Baraki Barak district, where the strike occurred, told Stars and Stripes that about 6 a.m., American helicopters struck an Afghan army checkpoint manned by 14 soldiers.

A USA airstrike has reportedly killed at least 10 Afghan soldiers after two American helicopters opened fire on an army checkpoint in Logar province early Monday. He said five troops were also wounded as an army checkpoint was hit.
