Samsung will drop the price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in a bid to revive its flagging smartphone sales.

South Korean electronics giant Samsung took a big gamble on its flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones, but apparently failed to hit the jackpot, as said by new earnings results. Improved revenue since Q1 2015 came from shipments of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smartphones.

While sales of the Samsung Galaxy S6 were disappointing, the company said it was unable to meet demand for the Galaxy S6 Edge due to supply issues.

The dollar fell 1.1 percent against a basket of currencies after the data on employment costs.

Overall sales were 48.5 trillion won (US$41.7bn), down 7pc on past year.

Now, Samsung is suggesting that it might reduce the prices of the phones to charge sales.
