Matthias Mueller has officially been named the new CEO of the Volkswagen Group effective immediately the German automaker announced on Friday.

Immediately after the company admitted that it has installed software created to cheat emission tests in a number of its diesel vehicles, it’s stock prices plummeted, losing a third of its value in an extremely short time.

According to reports, German automaker Volkswagen’s (VW) supervisory board is scheduled to hold a meeting on Friday, September 25; and will name Matthias Mueller as its new Chief Executive.

Meanwhile, reports from Germany suggest that a few senior management at Volkswagen may have known about issues relating to the software product, produced by Bosch, that was used to distort emission-testing results.

No fewer than 129,000 Volkswagen vehicles registered in Switzerland were affected by the emissions testing scandal, the company’s Swiss distributor, AMAG said.
