Ministers in Brussels have voted by a majority to accept quotas to distribute people across Europe.

Reps. John Conyers Jr. and Zoe Lofgren, who are the two top House Democrats on the committee dealing with immigration, also said the U.S. should take a total of 200,000 refugees, or almost three times the number accepted in 2014.

At least 13 refugees have been killed after a boat on its way to Greece collided with a ferry off the coast of Turkey, reports say.

Greek coastguard spokesman Nikos Lagkadianos said 11 people were rescued from the boat that sank and a twelfth swam ashore in the early hours. The survivors say there were a total of 46 people on board.

The hope of thousands of refugees and migrants of reaching western and northern Europe have been dashed yet again following Slovenia’s decision to temporarily suspend railway traffic from Croatia.
