At least 44 people have been killed in twin bomb blasts in the central Nigerian city of Jos, the country’s main relief agency says, after a bloody week of violence blamed on Boko Haram.
The children were swept up in raids by the army on Koranic schools but had not been charged with any offense, said Amnesty worldwide. He said his government was working towards nabbing terrorists.
The assault – which passed off in Deffa province close to Nigeria, elements of whose northeast are underneath Boko Haram management – was the deadliest in Niger by the jihadist group since a raid in April killed 74 individuals.
