WORLD No2 Jordan Spieth has trained his sights on winning the US PGA Championship next month after narrowly missing out on the third leg of a Major grand slam at the Open.

There were obviously much larger issues in play when it comes to Tiger’s scandal, but as it pertains to the game of golf; it clearly triggered a demise that seems to be fatal.

The Australian bogeyed the hole while his two rivals birdied, meaning he was virtually out of the running from that point on, but Leishman took the misfortune with good grace.

Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth, playing alongside Johnson, remained at five under after three bogeys and three birdies in his 13 holes.

Spieth lost his chance on the greens at the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Johnson was runner-up at the British Open in Sandwich in 2011 while the year before he was leading the U.S. PGA at Whistling Straights with one hole to play but was denied a play-off after being docked two shots for a rules infringement when he grounded his club in a bunker.

And like the mailman, nothing nature could throw his way could stop Johnson from his appointed rounds on Saturday.
