Malaysian officials said they are reaching out to authorities in territories near Reunion Island to allow experts to conduct more substantive analysis should more debris surface.

A wing flap suspected to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has arrived at a French military testing facility where it will be analyzed by experts.

It was found on the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion and returned to the French mainland.

The flaperon is officially identified as being part of #Boeing 777.

A “metal object of interest” related to the search was found Sunday morning on the beach in St. Denis, part of Reunion Island, a local government official said.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said he was informed that only Malaysia, France and plane manufacturer Boeing would jointly inspect the debris stored at Toulouse at this point, adding that he was unaware if other agencies are also involved.

“I’m the one leading the investigation in France for the analysis of the (wing flap) piece brought back. It is not a door”.

Chunks of what was evidently parts of an aircraft were found off the coast of St. Andre on Reunion Islands in western Indian Ocean.

Wrapped and loaded as cargo, the fragment was being transported to the military aviation laboratory, east of Toulouse.

The analysis is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, 5 August.

Boeing said Friday it will send a technical team to France to study plane debris that authorities increasingly believe is from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared in March 2014.
