Hundreds of Catholic bishops from around the world are meeting in the Vatican this month, invited by Pope Francis to debate the Catholic Church’s position on “the family”.
As it turns out, according to USA Today on Wednesday, the Vatican has confirmed the meeting, although they have refused to add any other details other than the fact that it took place.
Davis and her husband met privately with Francis last Thursday afternoon at the Vatican Embassy in Washington, D.C., for less than 15 minutes, her lawyer, Mat Staver has said.
ABC News reported that Father Benedettini of the Vatican’s press department issued a statement that said “the Holy See is aware of the reports of Kim Davis meeting with the Holy Father”.
A federal judge ordered Davis to jail earlier this month over her refusal to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in the Kentucky county where she’s clerk.
