At least eight Afghan soldiers were killed and five injured in a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation air strike in Logar province in Afghanistan on Monday, media reported. Five troops were also wounded in the strike, Razaq added.

A USA airstrike in Afghanistan has targeted an army checkpoint manned by Afghan soldiers in the country’s central Logar Province, killing at least ten service members.

Mohammed Rahim Amin, governor of Logar province’s Baraki Barak district, where the strike occurred, told Stars and Stripes that about 6 a.m., American helicopters struck an Afghan army checkpoint manned by 14 soldiers.

A USA airstrike has reportedly killed at least 10 Afghan soldiers after two American helicopters opened fire on an army checkpoint in Logar province early Monday. He said five troops were also wounded as an army checkpoint was hit.

District governor Mohammad Rahim Amin said the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation air strike was “likely a mistake, due to bad co-ordination” in an area where Taliban insurgents are highly active.

“The checkpoint caught fire… and 10 Afghan army soldiers were killed”.
