The National Institutes of Health announced a clinical trial to test the safety of a West Nile vaccine in humans after it successfully protected mice from lethal doses of the virus in lab tests. The sample, a Culex pipiens-restuans, was collected on June 23, 2015 in Selden, NY.

Of 2,212 pools submitted for testing in Colorado, Larimer County had 70 West Nile virus infected mosquitoes in 2014.

The Franklin County Mosquito Control District tests for the virus through the county on a weekly basis.

Last year, one human case of West Nile virus was confirmed in Merced County.
