This update for the app brought some new features like improvized VoiceOver support, video chats backup and directly sharing the location to WhatsApp and few others. This can be tinkered with in the “Chats and calls” section of the “Settings” menu.

The app is already available in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and will arrive in the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany on Thursday for smartphones running on iOS or Android operating systems. The tech giant hopes it will prove a worthy rival to WhatsApp, Snapchat and others.

If you already use “Ok Google” and your voice to send emails, Hangouts, or text messages, this should be a natural progression.

In the future, WhatsApp will hopefully create a more accessible option for this, but right now the only way to do Google Drive backups is to wait for the app to do its local backups, which will cause the app to notify the user that the backup has failed. Then you are completely...
