According to the YouGov survey for The Times, the left-wing backbencher has nearly doubled his lead over closest rival Andy Burnham – despite numerous Labour figures lining up to discredit his leadership bid.

The Teatime Rally at Middlesbrough Town Hall is open to all Labour members and supporters and will be the first time that Mr Corbyn has visited in the town in the campaign to become the Labour Party Leader.

“The SNP and UKIP have clouded our sense of direction because they seem to point away from the centre”, he said. “I don’t want to be a party of protest and I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from making that case”.
