Take A Deep Dive — Microsoft Surface Book
Microsoft recently unveiled its slate of Windows 10 devices, including the Surface Pro 4 and two new Lumia handsets, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella claims that its first self-produced laptop, the Surface Book, is twice as fast as Apple Inc. Unlike its predecessor, Microsoft’s entry product in the wearable technology market a year ago, the new Band has a curved display, which uses the Corning Gorilla glass 3, and has a barometer sensor to track elevation, as said by Microsoft Certified Trainers.
The company also announced its latest tablet hybrid device, the Surface Pro 4, which will cost over €1,000 with a keyboard accessory. It also launched the Lumia 950 and the 950 XL featuring 5.2- and 5.7-inch screens, which will be priced at $549 (about Rs 35,780) and $649 (about Rs 42,300), respectively.
According to The Verge, the starting price of the Surface Pro 4 is $899 when it hits stores starting October. 26.
The device comes with a 12.3-inch 2,160 x 1,440 screen which is slightly larger than that of the Surface Pro 3. The Surface Book is powered by Core i5 and i7 processors from Intel’s new Skylake series of chipsets, paired with an Nvidia GeForce GPU and GDDR5 memory.
Microsoft Surface Book also boasts of a dynamic fulcrum hinge and muscle wire lock, which allows the laptop screen to detach from the keyboard easily. Microsoft is aiming the device at users wanting the latest “super thin” laptop, similar to Apple’s MacBook or the Ultrabook machines available from Windows laptop suppliers.
Responding to a request for information on when Windows 10 would be coming to the Lumia 640 XL and phones like it, Microsoft said that “broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December”.
Microsoft also promises a more receptive device with the Surface Pro 4.
Just in case no one gets the idea, Microsoft says the Surface Book is the fastest laptop on the market.
