Take A Peek At Fox’s ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Remake
In 1976, during midnight showings at Waverly Theatre in NY, audiences began entertaining themselves by interacting with the film, shouting lines at the screen and using props during certain scenes, such as newspapers, water guns, and rice. Milian remembers that during rehearsals, “we all had to look each other in the eye and circle each other in… what can I call this?”
Curry was absent from the panel, but his presence was certainly felt.
So it’s one big, happy Rocky Horror family.
“The Nickelodeon chapter of my life has closed”, Justice said with a laugh. “I had to crawl over a lot of oiled-up men and sing “Touch Me”!” It is executive-produced by Lou Adler, Gail Berman and Ortega.
The trailer also hints at a possible interactive element, as it highlighted the famous audience participation having to do with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. “It’s created to bring more Rocky Horror family members into the fold”. In a nod to the actual, IRL midnight showings, the theater audience reacts to cues from the characters on the screen. Let us know your thoughts in the comments, below…
As someone who dons “Rocky Horror” get-up on an annual basis, I’m beyond thrilled to realize this means we’re in some for new costume interpretations. Well, the first 25 minutes premiered there last night, revealing that that, in fact, will be the case.
In addition to Cox and Curry, the show stars Victoria Justice (Janet Weiss), Staz Nair (Rocky) and Ben Vereen (Dr. Everett Scott).
