Takeaways from Game 3 of the WNBA Finals
Here we saw superstar Maya Moore pick up where Fowles left off, leading the offense for the remainder of the game and finishing with 19 points, five assists and eight rebounds. Even though this is White’s first season as a head coach, the WNBA isn’t likely to excuse her for being a novice who didn’t know better.
Maya Moore made a three-pointer from beyond the top of the key at the buzzer to give the Minnesota Lynx an 80-77 victory over the Indiana Fever in Game 3 of the best-of-five WNBA Finals. And to me, that’s a travesty.
Well, I guess first and foremost I learned a valuable lesson today. That player for the Fever is typically Tamika Catchings.
Shenise Johnson leads all scorers with 14 points, followed by Briann January with 13.
This time it was White who had something to say before leaving Minneapolis.
“We weren’t focused enough in the final few minutes and that’s what cost us”, Catchings said at practice on Thursday.
The WNBA Finals moves to Indiana for Game 3 on Friday night. Center Sylvia Fowles contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds. Reeve laughed as she said that, but you could tell it has truly been a refreshing experience for her and assistant Jim Petersen to work with Fowles.
White never backed off her comments. Catchings started a 14-6 run with her first basket of the game. “But she’s come in with an unbelievable attitude every game and every practice”. “We don’t disagree… We just take it and keep pushing”.
They trailed by eight points in the third quarter, but when Catchings had to go to the bench with her fifth foul, they pounced. This left the rest of the team to carry one another against the Fever. In the fourth quarter, they shot 4-of-14 (Catchings was 0-of-5) and committed seven turnovers. “Indiana was running for that knockout with the second win out and about”.
You know why? Well, because when Moore has the ball in her hands when it matters the most, this happens.
Dunn, along with Pacers coach Frank Vogel, Paul George, George Hill, and C.J. Miles have bought 2,300 seats, which will be made available (up to four tickets per person) at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Box Office beginning at noon on Wednesday. In the blink of an eye the Fever’s nine-point lead turned into a game tied at 54.
As the Lynx built a 59-57 lead through 30 minutes, the Collins Hill grad played only 12:11 and scored 12 points.
Sylvia Fowles certainly did.

Indiana was 30-of-60 from the floor 50 percent and 8-of-17 from the three-point line.
