Tarantino Says Police Groups Vilifying Critics Of Brutality
Following police forces across the country announcing their intention to boycott Quentin Tarantino’s films, the director is speaking out about his involvement in a New York anti-police rally.
“I’m a human being with a conscience”, Tarantino said at the event.
Tarantino isn’t exactly popular with law enforcement right now, having earned the ire of policemen and various media figures for a series of statements he made at an anti-police brutality rally last week. They (police) are slandering me, I am not a cop hater. “What they’re doing is pretty obvious”.
The strong words follow Tarantino’s appearance on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes yesterday.
QUENTIN TARANTINO: In the case of Eric Garner, in the case of Tamir Rice, I believe that those were murders but they were exonerated.
Moore said the call for a boycott would work against police. But now things are straying into creepy, maybe even scary territory as one high-ranking official says the director has a “surprise” on the way.
Tarantino defended himself earlier this week, saying his remarks have been taken out of context and that he “never even implied” that all police officers are murderers. That group joins a list of unions in New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, New Jersey, Chicago and Philadelphia that have pledged boycotts. At the same time the company released the movie Fruitvale Station, ” Tarantino stated. In a press release, Patrick Lynch, the president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, wrote that “It’s no surprise that someone who makes a living glorifying crime and violence is a cop-hater, too”. Lally projected an “underground” of “very pro-police” people could indeed affect the returns of “Hateful Eight”.
His latest film, “The Hateful Eight”, stars Channing Tatum, Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson. It’s to discredit me.
Three months after our first look at the teaser trailer, the complete trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s new movie The Hateful Eight just popped up on the film’s Twitter feed.
