Target closing 13 stores – including in Minnesota, Wisconsin communities
Target (TGT) is closing 13 of its stores because they are proving to be a drain on its financial results despite getting years to prove themselves.
Employees at the store will have the option to transfer to other Target stores, the company stated.
The Minneapolis-based retailer says a decision to close a store usually follows several years of decreasing profitability.
Currently, the company operates 1,799 stores across the United States and employs over 300,000 people, according to information on its website.

Target said Wednesday it plans to close 13 stores nationwide, but no stores in the Lehigh Valley will be affected.
Target stated there are no new stores planned for the region.
“Target has been an anchor in the New Ulm retail scene for 15 plus years and this is unfortunate news for our community”, she said in a statement Monday afternoon.
The Victorville Target store is the oldest running location in the area. Changes have included thousands of job cuts, the closing of its stores in Canada after an expansion there, and the sale of its pharmacy business to CVS.
