Target to hire more than 70000 for holiday season
These are all seasonal jobs.
Target announced Monday it will be hiring 70,000 seasonal workers across the country to hep with the holiday rush.
At these events, managers will be “meeting with thousands of prospective candidates in just 48 hours”, so it should give applicants an idea of what it’s like to work on Black Friday. Last year, the retailer raised the starting wage for many workers. The stagnant number reflects a slowdown in the retailer’s business, the magazine noted.
The retail company said it needed the additional help in its distribution and fulfillment facilities this year due to an increase in online orders. The company lowered its forecast for the rest of the year, warning investors that during the holiday season, it expected comparable sales to fall as much as 2%, or be unchanged at best.
The Minnesota-based chain said it would hold dedicated hiring events at each of its almost 1,800 stores nationwide to meet potential new employees. Target officials say the extra staff will also play an important role in making sure online shopping goes smoothly.
As in past years, existing Target associates will get first crack at any extra holiday hours they want.
