Target To Keep Selling Red ‘OCD’ Christmas Sweater Despite Social Media
“Given how everyone is offended by something this year, perhaps OCD should be known as Offensive Compulsive Disorder”, tweeted user Thomas Alexander.
“Today at Target I saw a sweater that said “OCD Obsessive Christmas Disorder”…why is trivializing a mental disorder so widely accepted?”
Target now has no plans to remove the OCD Obsessive Christmas Disorder sweater from store shelves.
A few customers have even ask the company to stop selling the sweater.
Other sweaters included in the Ugly Christmas Sweater Collection at Target include a Darth Vader Christmas, Ugly Christmas Tree, and an On The Naughty List sweater.
The red sweater has “OCD” written in large green letters with the words “obsessive Christmas disorder” written underneath. “Researchers are also looking for ways in which stress and environmental factors may play a role”. This sweater isn’t insulting to people with OCD (like my wife, who thinks the sweater is “cute”). “No one’s being mocked or persecuted or whatever other outlandish claims are being made nowadays from people with no backbone”. Another person who declared themselves afflicted with OCD has stated that they still find the product “funny”, calling protesters “uptight”. Back in 2013, they also labeled a plus-sized version of one of their grey dresses as “Manatee Grey”, while the normal sized version was “Dark Heather Gray”. The supermarket chain has recently come under fire from both upset customers and mental health organizations after releasing a special Christmas sweater with a questionable message printed on it.
