Target to open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day

As retailers pushed to open on Thanksgiving, Black Friday briefly lost its spot as the leading day for both shopper visits and sales, according to ShopperTrak, a global provider of consumer behavior insight and location-based analytics.

“Digital stores are open 24/7, so I think that perhaps as retailers have developed more confidence in their online operations, they also have the confidence to not go overboard in their holiday operating hours at their physical locations”, said Carol Spieckerman, a strategist at Spieckerman Retail.

Meanwhile, Target isn’t the only retailer starting “Black Friday” early. It appears that TVs will be among the best deals heading into this holiday shopping season as most sales deals and leaked ads are prominently featuring them, as in year’s past.

Now, with this Black Friday deal at Target, they can be picked up for just $35.

USA Today adds that the emergence of online and mobile shopping has pushed retailers to offer great deals all season to give consumers reasons to shop anytime.

In the meantime, Staples won’t be opening on Thanksgiving day but they will be opening their doors early on Black Friday.

Target will welcome shoppers at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. “Nearly all stores will remain open until 1 a.m. local time on Friday, November 27, and re-open for a second round of “doorbuster” deals at 8am”, the company states.

REI says it plans to opt out of Black Friday for the foreseeable future.

Now, in a move that’s pretty much the opposite of that, Target has announced that the company plans to open its stores at 6p.m. on Thanksgiving day. Black Friday is also the busiest shopping days of the year, Most of the shopping websites have reported the shortage of stock on this day.
