Task force investigating string of northern Colorado roadside shootings to
Investigators believe it is linked to a shooting on I-25 that injured a woman, Cori Romero, while she was driving in late April. That person was not injured. Still, it remains unclear how much closer investigators are to making an arrest and closing the cases.
Someone fired shots on Sunday at the Banner Health Center building in Fort Collins, north of Denver, police said.
Authorities said Cottonwood Plains Elementary School on Turman Drive was also damaged by a firearm.
Two other shootings that occurred 15 minutes apart on June 3 in the city of Loveland are also being investigated by the task force.
A task force probing a series of apparent random shootings in northern Colorado appealed on Thursday to an anonymous tipster to contact them again, as the FBI increased reward money for information on the cases to $50,000. These agencies were added to the task force to increase effectiveness in the areas of processing information and gathering intelligence on criminal activity in the surrounding region. “Please do not make that assumption – come forward with the information you have whether or not you think someone else has already done so”. That was about two miles from where Bill Connole was shot and killed at East First Street and St. Louis Avenue later that night.
After asking for the public’s help, Moore said the task force was flooded with tips and leads from community members. It’s possible there will be more information about that truck on Thursday.
At this point in time, officers could not confirm that any of these windows were shattered by a bullet.
Moore said the task force has so far found no connection between the Colorado shootings and “other seemingly random shooting incidents in the United States”. The task force would like to share with the public some of its investigative efforts to date.
Both incidents are still being investigated and have not yet been tied to the original four shootings the task force is investigating.
