Tata Motors showcases KITE 5 compact sedan, Hexa SUV
“While it carries the “Zica” label for the duration of the event, the new name will be announced after a few weeks, ensuring all necessary consumer/ branding and regulatory aspects are addressed, and the launch will take place thereafter”, Tata Motors said in a statement. It also derives power from the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.05-litre, three-cylinder diesel mills offered on the hatchback.
The Kite 5 shares its mechanicals and styling with the hatchback, with the additional boot being the only differentiator.
Inside the cabin, the Bolt Sport gets an all-black leather upholstery with contrasting red stitches and accents, sunroof and Harman touch-screen infotainment system with voice recognition and SMS readout. The only difference is that the Tata badge mounted on the grille is replaced with a stylized “S”. The Tata Kite sedan also receives dual airbags, ABS, electrically adjustable ORVMs and voice command. Based on the same platform as the Zica, the front face of the Kite 5 looks similar to the Zica.
Tata Motors has partnered with Jayem Automotives for developing performance and special vehicles. The petrol is from Revotron family, while diesel is from Revotorq family.
Bosses at carmaker Tata Motors have swung off a carefully planned launch route for their new hatchback, which is starting at India’s annual Auto Expo opening in New Delhi tomorrow.
In terms of styling, the vehicle gets a more aggressive body kit and larger 17-inch alloy wheels on the exterior. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox, and is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 12 seconds.
