The power is fed via a 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) with push button reverse and paddle shifters.
Europe’s biggest annual auto fair, the Geneva Motor Show, got off to a grand start on a Tuesday and the moment that kept those glued to the happenings back in India was the grand unveiling of Tata TAMO’s RaceMo.
From the humble Indica to a sports vehicle, Tata Motors is marking its 20th year of participation at the Geneva International Motor Show with a leap of faith to future. It has been described as a new structural technology which allows greater freedom in building surface design and efficient large-scale part integration.
The RACEMO will be the first production model from Tamo and will hit showrooms starting with India late this year. The Nexon features Tata’s IMPACT design which makes the SUV look pretty striking.
At the time of announcement of the TAMO sub-brand, Tata Motors managing director and CEO Guenter Butschek had stated that the company needed a different way to get into the future. It is positioned as a low-volume, experimental division that will allow Tata Motors to build a fresh image in the minds of the people. It’ll be produced under Tata Motor’s new portmanteau banner – TAMO and it claims to pack 187 bhp.
Combining both physical and digital worlds with strong connectivity features such as cloud computing, analytics, geo-spatial and mapping, as well as an enhanced human-machine interface, the Tata Racemo is India’s first globally developed “phygital” auto.
All the styling work was done at the Tata Motors Design Studio in Turin, Italy.
The butterfly door equipped Tata TaMo RaceMo sportscar will be positioned as a halo model signaling its exclusivity.
Tata Motors had earlier announced their sub-brand Tamo, under which they will launch many new products. The auto comes with a 6-speed AMT gearbox and according to the company the vehicle will reach a speed of 100 kmph in a mere 6 seconds. The street version RACEMO, the race version RACEMO+, the FORZA Horizon 3 gaming stations and the Hololens experience zones plus in-car social media connect will capture the imagination of the visitors.
