Taylor Swift Becomes the World’s Top-Earning Celebrity
The magazine promoted the Kardashian cover on Twitter at first, then added a Swift tweet.
Forbes reported Swift rolled over the Rolling Stones’ North American touring record, grossing $200 million on the continent en route to quarter of a billion dollars in total.
Taylor’s former beau, musician Calvin Harris, also made the cut coming in at number 21 ($63 million).
No. 3: James Patterson Author James Patterson took third place with $95 million.
British chart-topper Adele trumped other female singers including Madonna, Rihanna and Katy Perry to take the ninth spot with $80.5 million (£62 million).
While the world has been watching Taylor Swift’s love life play out, she’s been amassing some serious coin.
Selena Gomez might have usurped Taylor Swift’s title as the most-followed person on Instagram, but the 1989 singer is still ruling the bankroll.
The full Forbes Celebrity 100 list will be released later today.
The other female musician to make it to the top 10 is Adele with $80.5 million which is still great.
Swift’s income in the last year was more than double her preceding year’s earnings of $US80 million, or $106 million. Aside from sales of her fourth album “1989” released in 2014 and her subsequent seven singles, she’s had several product endorsements such as Diet Coke, Keds, Apple, Target and Subway, and she’s also got her own perfume line the fourth fragrance of which was “Incredible Things”.
One Direction came second after earning $110m which should tide them over while they enjoy a hiatus from making music.
Earlier in the day, Forbes announced that Beyoncé and Jay Z are the world’s highest paid celebrity couple, bringing in a total of $107.5 million.
“The world’s 100 highest-paid celebrities pulled in $5.1 billion pretax over the past 12 months, more than the GDP of Belize, Gambia and Bhutan combined”, stated Forbes Magazine.
Kim Kardashian is at No. 42 on the list with $51 million – much from her mobile game.
