Taylor Swift is exclusively releasing her ‘1989’ documentary on Apple Music
Apple Music will be the only place to watch Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert film, documenting her 1989 World Tour.
The singer, who turned 26-year-old Sunday, will premiere “1989 World Tour Live” on Apple Music and the concert will be available to stream starting December 20.
In a trailer, Swift says, “Getting ready for this I wondered about a lot of things”. Her curly blonde hair looked messy and she wore a long-sleeved outfit with an image of Disney character Ariel from “The Little Mermaid (1989)”. The service also includes a 24/7 radio station called Beats 1 and a service called Connect, where artists can present themselves to fans and share songs directly to their iPhones.
Apple declined further comment on Swift’s announcement. It was filmed in front of 76,000 fans in Sydney, Australia on November 28, 2015. Currently, Apple Music is the only streaming service where you can even find Swift’s latest album, 1989.
As such, the 1989 concert exclusive could well have been secured via a direct deal between Swift’s team and Apple.
Swift largely defined the launch of Apple Music this year, penning an open letter to the company about how she was disappointed in the company’s decision to not pay artists during the trial period. Apple said it would change its policy and would pay artists royalties.
To clarify, trademarking these phrases doesn’t mean no one may speak them without paying one million dollars to the Taylor Swift machine.
“And then I was struck with this overwhelming sense of fear”. Are they going to turn the video camera on?
So if you like the theory that in the future, big tech companies like Apple, or Google, or Netflix, will end up replacing traditional music labels and music studios as content underwriter/owners, feel free to use this in your next argument. Incredibly, Swift has invited approximately 80 guests to join her on stage during the USA leg of her show with the broad range of high-profile celebrities including Kendall Jenner, Ed Sheeran, Kobe Bryant, Serena Williams, Cara Delevingne, Wiz Khalifa and Fetty Wap.
