Taylor Swift Performed ‘You Oughta Know’ With Alanis Morrissette
Taylor Swift and her 1989 Tour have been rolling across North America this summer like a true juggernaut, making as many headlines for the special guests – Lorde!
So far, Taylor Swift’s Los Angeles shows have been a star-studded spectacle, with everyone from Kobe Bryant to Mary J. Blige joining the superstar on stage.
There’s no denying the impact that Alanis Morissette’s rage-filled confessionals had on the pop-music landscape and Taylor Swift underlined that fact last night at the Staples Center.
Ellen DeGeneres has stolen the spotlight from Taylor Swift at her latest gig. “And she has written some of the most brilliant music-in particular probably inarguably the greatest breakup song of all-time”.
And then they sang it together!
What do you think of Taylor and Alanis’ performance? Before launching in to “You Oughta Know“, Swift poured praise on to Morissette, crediting her honest songwriting and 20-year-old album Jagged Little Pill with influencing her own songwriting.
“It’s fair to say so many of thew female singer-songwriters of my generation, including myself, would not write the way we do without her and her music”, Swift continued.
She also welcomed the Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines on stage for Goodbye Earl and pulled Ellen DeGeneres up for a catwalk segment of Style. I don’t know how to process how fantastic she was.
