Taylor Swift Turns 26 and Announces Exclusive Streaming Deal With Apple

This is significant turn in Swift’s relationship with Apple.

Taylor Swift gave Apple exclusive access to a video shot during the pop star’s recent concert tour.

In the increasingly competitive world of streaming music, high prolife exclusive content provides Apple Music with a clear point of difference and help stave off commodification. Taylor Swift had a birthday present for her fans on Sunday. The special will be free to stream for users of Apple’s music streaming service (including those who are on the free three-month trial as well as paying subscribers), but it won’t be available elsewhere (not even on iTunes), at least initially. The New York Times’ Ben Sisario reported that the “1989” tour, which ended on Saturday, had more than $240 million in ticket sales.
