TCU picked by media to win Big 12 Conference football title
The Horned Frogs surprisingly received 32 first-place votes, outpacing second-place Baylor by a wide margin. BU was picked sixth in 2011, seventh in 2012 and fifth in 2013.
For the first time, TCU has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the football championship in the Big 12.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was named the media’s preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Baylor’s Shawn Oakman took Defensive Player of the Year honors.
K-State opens the season at home against South Dakota on Saturday, September 5th.
It was such the cluster in the first year of the CFP that, in May, the league introduced a new set of tiebreaker procedures to ensure that there’s one and only one champion holding up a conference title trophy at regular season’s end.
