TCU QB Boykin Arrested For Assaulting Peace Officer
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested in San Antonio early Thursday morning after fighting at a bar and then striking a bicycle patrol officer, according to multiple reports that cite authorities.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin (2) prepares to pass during the first quarter of an NCAA college football game against #5 Baylor on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, in Waco, TX. Boykin was allegedly at the bar with friends when he took offense to other patrons’ comments after they recognized him. Boykin apparently missed again and this time hit an officer.
When San Antonio police arrived to break up the fight, Boykin attempted to punch the officers, despite being held back by his friends.
The arrest comes just days before the Horned Frogs are set to face off against the Oregon Ducks in the Alamo Bowl. Upon threatening to tase him, police say he calmed down. “The fight continued, the actor wouldn’t comply with demands to stop resisting, until the supervisor told him to stop or he would be tazed”.
Bike officers came upon Boykin as he was taking swings when he indiscriminately hit an officer.
TCU released a statement, via SportsCenter, which said: “We are aware of a situation last night and are gathering information”.
A senior, Boykin threw for 3,575 yards with 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season, tying for ninth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
