TCU QB Trevone Boykin arrested after alleged bar fight in San Antonio
Boykin became upset and a scuffle ensued. Boykin reportedly struck a bar employee and was removed by bouncers. McMannus said Bicycle police arrived as teammates tried to hustle Boykin away from the scene.
San Antonio NBC affiliate News 4 reported that Boykin’s actions began when people at the bar recognized him and he started getting heckled about the upcoming game. According to an incident report provided by the San Antonio PD, the suspect “was very aggressive and was being held back by the group that he was with”. Police said he charged at responding officers, and swung at one before being taken to the ground. He came back. He was finally subdued after being threated with a (stun gun). Boykin, one of the nation’s most electric players, was involved in a physical altercation that resulted in charges of assaulting a public official, resisting arrest and publication intoxication.
“We don’t know if he was swinging at the officer or somebody behind him”, McManus said.
– The officer was struck in the face by Mr. Boykin.
There have also been reports that Boykin was in his room at 12 a.m. for the team’s curfew room check, and left to go to the bar afterward.
Boykin completed 65 percent of his passes this season for 3,575 yards and 31 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions.
Upon the arrest and felony assault charged leveled at TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin, the No. 15 Oregon Ducks are now favored to defeat the No. 11 Horned Frogs by a touchdown when the two programs clash in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.
But they’ll have to do without Boykin and wide receive Preston Miller, who were suspended for a “violation of team rules”, coach Gary Patterson said in a statement.
